You can set up a battery-tied solar system to power your village with no risk of spills or explosions! Propane and gasoline are hard to find in our area, and the decay rate is high. Solar panels can produce electricity for decades with hardly any maintenance. Before America’s bankruptcy solar was very popular, and you can find unused modules all across the Wastelands. (Remember: always check your Geiger counters before bringing any metals back to camp!)
If you have a basic eGranary Digital Library, use the electrician resources to wire the panels in series and set up a bank of car batteries. Make sure to test each battery first before wiring your setup - we learned that the hard way!
You can scavenge outlets, along with the wall fixtures and wiring, from most residential neighborhoods. Pick where in town you want to have power (this can get political, so make sure it’s a transparent process), and set up your storage shed and control room there.
Make sure it’s in an area with heavy topography and high rock content, and use an energy wave scrambler so the Korp Drones don’t detect additional electrical activity.
To minimize the risk of detection, spend the extra energy to install your solar arrays far out of town, in abandoned areas, and bury your wires. Always shield your solar panels from the Korp Town’s direct line of site, and only service your systems at night. This way they mistake it as old urban development, especially if you don’t make the system look too new and fancy. (There’s no risk of that for us I’m sure!)
